This is a beautiful tall hairgrass that is often used in Mr. Amano’s Nature Aquariums. It is often used as a background in Iwagumi layouts (Japanese style stone arrangements) The fresh green color and soft hair like leaves contrast well and softens the look of rock scapes. This was a rather difficult to find plant in the aquarium trade and we have finally made it easily obtainable in tissue culture form.
High lighting and CO2 injection are not necessarily required to grow Dwarf Hair Grass, but is highly recommended if you’d like it to grow in lush and quick. The difference is highly noticeable. To plant, simply separate larger mats into small portions and plant each portion an inch or so apart half way into the substrate. Once established, regular trimming will be required as once it sends runners out, the plant grows quickly.
