Blyxa Japonica is an aquatic plant found in the stagnant waters, marshes and overall slow-moving bodies of water. A staple in the planted aquarium hobby, Blyxa Japonica is easily recognized by its grassy, bush-like appearance and is commonly used by many aquarium hobbyists, beginner, and enthusiasts alike. Blyxa Japonica is relatively easy to grow so long as you provide the correct environment. Quality lighting, CO2 injection and a regular fertilizer routine are highly recommended to achieve the desired growth and look for this aquatic plant. If conditions are good, Blyxa Japonica will exhibit gold and red hues along with compact growth. With low lighting, this aquatic plant will become thinner, tall and green.
Slightly different from other species of grass-like midground and foreground aquatic plants, Blyxa Japonica doesn’t not produce long runners. Instead, side shoots are produced and are easily divided from the mother plant with quality aquascaping tools. It is a bit more difficult to plant due to its buoyancy, but the overall aquatic plant is not as invasive, since it tends to bush over itself as it grows.
