Utricularia Graminifolia or UG has recently been one of the most highly sought after foreground plants due to its ability to recreate a thick and lush grass-like lawn. It grows by spreading horizontal runners. If left untrimmed, it will eventually grow thick enough to detach and float above the substrate. UG has been notoriously difficult to grow in a newly establish planted aquarium due to its inability to adapt well during the bacteria cycling phase. We recommend planting UG in an already established tank or first growing it via the Dry Start Method. However, once rooted UG will grow at a fast rate and develop into a thick carpet of bright green. It does not require much fertilization and instead prefers a nutrient-rich substrate such as Marfied Controsoil or Tropica Aquarium Soil.
